- India launch expected in 2027
- Might be available as a hybrid
The Hyundai Tucson is getting a makeover, and the next-generation model, codenamed NX5, has been spotted testing overseas ahead of its global debut. Expected to launch internationally in the third quarter of 2026, the all-new Tucson could make its way to the Indian market soon after.
The SUV appears more muscular and upright than the current model, drawing inspiration from the Hyundai N Vision 74 and even the NEXO FCEV. It also has a rugged stance reminiscent of Land Rover models, hinting at the carmaker readying to position the new Tucson as both an urban and adventure-ready SUV.

Inside, the 2026 Tucson is set to showcase Hyundai’s new ‘Pleos OS’, an advanced, smartphone-like interface displayed on a wide 16:9 screen. This system will offer app-based customisation via the new ‘Pleos Playground’ store for a fully connected in-car experience.
The standout feature will be Level 2.5 autonomous driving capability, whereas the highlight, especially for tech-savvy Indian buyers, will be Hyundai’s new AI-based assistant, named ‘Gleo’. This ChatGPT-style voice assistant will allow natural conversations to control everything from infotainment to navigation.
Hyundai will ditch diesel power entirely for the new Tucson. Instead, the focus will shift to hybrid and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) variants. The PHEV will target a 100km all-electric range, which is more than enough for the average Indian city commute. Given the Tucson’s significance in the Indian market, a 2027 debut seems likely.
