- Brand's entry-level EV
- Launch not confirmed yet
A camouflaged new-gen Renault Kwid EV has been spotted in Chennai. This isn't the first sighting of the Kwid EV in India, but this time, it was not undergoing tests, but was being transported on a flatbed near the airport.
While previous spy shots showed the electric hatchback in full camouflage, the latest sighting shows the test mule with a different but reduced wrap. Besides, the new-gen car's visible Y-shaped tail lamps confirm its identity. Moreover, the car has a rear wiper and steel wheels, suggesting component testing.

The Renault Kwid EV will be based on the Dacia Spring EV, which debuted globally last year. Like this EV, the upcoming electric Kwid is expected to offer two motor options. There might be a 44bhp base variant and a 64bhp upper variant, both powered by a 26.8kWh battery (220km claimed range).
Renault hasn't officially confirmed an India launch or a market strategy yet. But if it is officially launched here, it will diversify options for the prospective buyer, given that it will be the carmaker’s entry-level EV in the country.
