Positives:

• The Basalt is properly spacious for five full-sized passengers and has a bigger boot than its other sibling, the Citroen Aircross.

• The seats are comfortable, supportive, and accommodating, and finding the right driving position is easy due to the seat/steering adjustments.

• One of its biggest highlight are its rear seats, with three-step-adjustable thigh support, winged rear headrests, and rear AC vents.

• Despite being at the lowest setting, the driver’s visibility remains good due to the high seating position and the slim A-pillars.

• Other USPs include a 10.23-inch infotainment with wireless mirroring and Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity.

• It is equipped with a customisable seven-inch digital instrument cluster and a 15W wireless smartphone charger. It gets a 470-litre boot.
• Then, there are Citroen Connect features like remote engine start, geo-fencing, and remote door lock/unlock.

Negatives:

• The view out of the rear windscreen is narrow and the resolution of the reverse camera is poor.
• The sloping roof can restrict the rear headroom for six-foot passengers.
• It does not have features like a sunroof, keyless entry and start, seat ventilation, heads-up display, 360-degree camera, and a lock-unlock button.

Positives:

• It gets six airbags, ABS with EBD, ESP, hill-hold, three-point seatbelts and reminder (all seats), and rear parking sensors as standard kit across all variants.
• The Citroen Basalt can be had with tyre pressure monitoring, ISOFIX child anchorages, and a rear-view camera.
• Citroen has reinforced Basalt’s chassis structure to improve its crashworthiness and attain a five-star safety score from NCAP authorities.

Negatives:

• There are no ADAS functionalities and no safety ratings from the NCAP agency.

Positives:

• The Citroen Basalt has a more distinctive design due to the coupe roofline and the smaller wheels, despite being based on the Aircross, .

• The car gets LED projector headlamps, 16-inch diamond-cut alloys, high approach and departure angles, and 3D effect taillamps.

• The monotone colours include Polar White, Steel Grey, Platinum Grey, Cosmo Blue, and Garnet Red, while dual-tone ones include Polar White and Garnet Red, each with a Perla Nera black roof.

Negatives:

• The Basalt looks a tad narrower than it should be, especially when viewed from the rear portion.
• The cabin quality and fit are inconsistent; although the glossy black plastic looks rich, the matte finishes look cheap.
