- Volvo's new entry-level EV
- Expected as a CKD unit
The Volvo EX30 is set to launch in India this month, marking a significant entry into the country's rapidly growing electric vehicle market. Here's what we can expect from this luxury compact EV.
Exterior
The EX30 looks similar to its siblings following Volvo's design language. It boasts a modern and futuristic design with a blanked-off grille, slim LED headlamps, Thor's Hammer DRLs, pixel-style tail lights, and EV-specific aero-optimised wheels. While the extended range will ensure long-distance comfort, the EV's compact dimensions make it city-friendly. The car's charging port is on the rear left quarter panel.

Interior
The interior features a minimalist Swedish design with a 12.3-inch portrait-style infotainment screen running on Google-based OS, wireless Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay. There's a sleek driver’s instrumentation, new steering wheel and a neatly laid-out dashboard as seen on other modern Volvo EVs like the EX90. The EX30 packs advanced safety features including a 360-degree camera, multiple airbags, and ADAS (Advanced Driver Assist) systems like lane-keeping assist and adaptive cruise control.

Powertrain
The EX30 is based on Geely's SEA platform and offered with two battery options - 51kWh and 69kWh, with a range of 344km and 480km (WLTP cycle), respectively. The single-motor version produces 268bhp and 343Nm torque, while the dual-motor variant packs 422bhp and 543Nm torque.
Launch Timeline
The Volvo EX30 made its global debut in June 2023, and is positioned below the EX40 and the EC40 Recharge in Volvo's EV lineup. Once launched here, it will be the brand's most affordable EV in India. Initially, it will be imported as a CBU, but a CKD route with local assembly later should allow for a more competitive price tag.
